7 Best Ways to Get Home Improvement Loan

Home Improvement projects are widely popular credited to the growth of TV series and designer shows. While smaller projects top the list of frequency, such as painting and decorating, all home improvement projects can add up quickly. The savvy shopper will not only shop around for the best deal on fabric, but on home improvement loans as well. There are many reasons why people go for home improvement loans, and just as many ways in which to do so. Common borrowing purposes can basically be divided into two categories. The first would cover things such as buying clothes and other purchases on credit cards, using store credit, and taking advantage of buy now pay later or other store financing offers, or perhaps borrowing to pay for a holiday.

The many toget Home Improvement loans are as follows:

1. Personal Loans: Most home owners meet their home improvement loans requirement for home improvement through personal loans. This can save thousands in interest payments. Though mostly widely preferred, the interest rates are subject to market conditions.

2. Secured loan: Secured loan or mortgage can be taken out as secured loans against the equity in your property. This will enable you to take out a more substantial home improvement loans than you would get with an unsecured loan, and you can also enjoy lower monthly repayments and better interest rates.

3. Dealer financing: Whether you want to get central heating fitted or have all the doors replaced, or whether you want to redecorate throughout, have a new kitchen or bathroom, or any other type of home improvement, the dealer from who you buy the goods will finance you with home improvement loans and you repay the principle inclusive of a high rate of interest.

4. Home Improvement Mortgage Refinance: Many homeowners are refinancing to lock in attractive long term fixed interest rates, and thereby using the extra money to pay for remodeling projects. With this type of home improvement loan, you can schedule repayment for 20 or 30 years into the future, and the interest is tax deductible. However, one drawback is that because you’ll be repaying the money slowly the accumulated interest can be quite significant.

5. Home Equity Loans: A Home Equity Loan allows you to borrow against the value of your home and is also one of the smartest ways to finance home improvements. Although one major drawback is that if you default on your payment, you run the risk of losing your home, so paying these loans back in a responsible manner is an absolute must.

6. Bank Loans: Regular Consumer Bank Loans come in handy as home improvement loans, especially for those home owners who need to borrow relatively small amounts of money without much paperwork or delay. These loans usually need to be paid back within a few years, rather than a few decades.

7. Low interest fixed rate loans: Homeowners, including those who have little or no equity in their property, may be eligible for a low interest fixed rate home improvement loan to fund repairs. Which ever way you may choose to meet your home improvement loan it should suit you’re your budget and timeline. Look for monthly payments that you can easily manage, and an interest rate and schedule of repayment that meets both your short and long term goals.

Easiest Ways to Finance Home Improvement Projects

Many people are trying to sell their house right now and they’re finding that the market still favors home buyers over home sellers. In order to make your home more attractive to a potential buyer you may need to consider some small upgrades or home improvements to set it apart from the competition. Home improvements can not only help you sell your home but depending upon the upgrades you choose to perform they may actually help you get a higher selling price for your home.

In order to improve your home the way you should you’re going to need to set some money aside to really get the job done the right way. You could save some money on your home improvement projects by perfoming them yourself, but if you’re in a hurry to sell your home then you may want to consider hiring a professional.

There are several ways you can borrow the money needed for quick home improvements, but some methods of financing a big home improvement project are much easier than others. Here are some of the more common ways of paying for large home upgrades in order from easiest to most difficult to attain.

The easiest way to actually pay for a large home improvement project is to have the money on hand already. Not a lot of people have thousands of dollars hanging around but many people do have items they can sell to raise some money. You could sell old tools, a boat, a car or simply go through your basement and sell items online all to raise the money you need to pay for a home improvement project. Depending upon what you have to sell this could either be the easiest or most difficult way to finance a home improvement project.

Home improvement store credit cards are another way to pay for smaller home improvement projects, usually totally ten thousand dollars or less. Getting a credit card from a hardware store is usually not very difficult even if you have questionable credit. The problem with cards like this is that they can sometimes have high interest rates and high fees if you aren’t careful. To get a home improvement store credit card you usually just have to fill out a single form from the store.

You can also use the equity in your home to get a home improvement loan. You could take out a home equity line of credit, a home equity loan or even a second mortgage based on your needs. These types of financing are more difficult than a credit card to obtain and they’re dependent upon you having enough equity in your home to qualify for them. Most of these types of loans carry an initial fee of a couple hundred to several thousand dollars and there are usually closing costs and inspections to go through as well.

The most difficult type of loan to get for a home improvement project is probably a loan directly from a bank without putting anything up for collateral. To get a loan like this you’ll probably want to present the bank with detailed improvement plans, quotes from one or several contractors and proof of steady income. Different banks offer different types of home improvement loans and some may be more willing to work with you than others.

Generally, it is easier to pay for home improvement projects by selling things or having the cash on hand than it is to apply for any sort of home improvement loan. Home improvement credit cards are easy to obtain and good for small projects, home equity loans are good for larger projects if you have the equity in your home and straight bank loans are usually the most difficult loans to obtain for home improvement purposes.

Top Ways to Add Value to Your Home

granite tops

Article by Ruth Williams

Despite a poor housing market over the past five years, owning a home is still one of the best ways to build long-term equity. Because of this it is often a good idea to take out a home equity loan or short term payday loan to complete a home improvement project and increase the value of your home. When looking to improve the value of your home, there are several projects which historically add the most value and have the best overall return on investment. Add A BedroomOne of the best ways to add value to your home would be to add on a bedroom to your home. Home prices tend to escalate based on how many bedrooms and bathrooms that they have. In some situations adding a bedroom could be expensive as it will require you to build an additional room. However, many homes could actually be easily and affordably converted to add one more bedroom. Some of the easiest ways to do this would be to convert a pre-existing loft into a more habitable space or to simply add a close to a room that was previously used as a home office or den. Convert Your KitchenYou could also add value to your home be remodelling your kitchen. A home’s kitchen is often a place where people congregate regardless of whether they are cooking or eating and when homebuyers are looking at homes, it is often one of the first aspects of a home that they look at. By updating your kitchen you could increase the value of the home instantly and make it far more marketable if you are looking to sell. Some of the best improvements to consider when you are looking to upgrade your kitchen would be to get new cabinets, install granite counters, or purchase more fashionable and matching appliances.Energy Efficient ImprovementsOver the past few years more and more focus in home design has been on becoming more energy efficient and reducing carbon footprint. Due to this increasing trend, making energy efficient improvements to your home will increase the value of the home and attract more potential buyers if you are looking to sell. Some of the best improvements to make would be to install energy efficient windows and doors. These products will keep your home at your desired temperature, which will reduce your energy bills throughout the year. Also, installing energy efficient home appliances in your kitchen and laundry room will further reduce your energy and water bills each year.
